Great Honeymoon Spots that won't break the Bank

So you have finally taken the plunge, walked down the aisle, gotten through the reception and are now you are wondering; “What do we do now”.

Since I am seeing so many couples falling into this category, I decided to do some investigating. I found lots of options out there for brides and grooms to still enjoy the luxury of a great Honeymoon without breaking the bank.

First and for most, the easiest and most cost effective way to do a honeymoon and not go broke is to Stay Local. Now staying local can mean several things, staying in your hometown area or only going a day’s drive away. You would be surprised how many people have never been to Williamsburg, which is a hop, jump and skip away. There are so many things to do there and some wonderful Bed and Breakfasts there.

It can also refer to going to a place that is a day’s drive away, like Nags Head, Myrtle Beach, Charleston or even Savannah. All of these are great places with tons of quaint little Bed and Breakfasts, hotels and resorts. It is definitely cheaper to send money on gas and a rental car as opposed to a plane ticket to a far away destination.

My next suggestion is that if you are going to a location for more than 3 or 4 days think about getting the nice, plush honeymoon suite for those first couple of days and then switch to a regular room for the rest. One, the first couple of days, you two will be enjoying each other and will probably very rarely go out and explore. But by the end of the honeymoon, you will want to go and explore your surrounds so you won’t be in that cute honeymoon suite as much. So you could save money by only paying for the honeymoon suite for a couple of nights and then go to a regular room for the rest.

I strongly encourage everyone to try and go on some type of honeymoon because honeymoons are really a time for you and your new mate to relax and unwind from all of the wedding planning. Even if you go somewhere local and stay a few nights or go to an All Inclusive resorts, you will definitely have fun and you will be together.

If you wait, you won’t ever go and then you will think back and wish you would have. Take it from me.

Happy Planning
